These units combine:
Mechanical systems (engines, compressors, gearboxes) Electrical systems (control panels, diagnostics) Hydraulic & pneumatic systems Onboard computerised maintenance systems This is a depot-based and field-based role, covering the Basingstoke and surrounding depots, offering hands-on engineering work on a highly specialised fleet without.
Work Pattern & Rota 10-week rolling rota 400 hours across 10 weeks A mix of days and some nights (night shift is more of a monitoring role as the fleet will be operating, so you will be on standby). How it works: 2-week fixed working block Remaining weeks include planned rest days and flexibility for leave Shifts include days, nights, weekends, etc Large blocks of scheduled time off throughout the year Key Responsibilities Carry out planned maintenance and inspections on the fleet Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic faults Maintain onboard systems (power, lighting, air systems) Use digital maintenance systems to record work Conduct audits of tools, spares, and equipment Support testing and operation of units Ensure all work meets safety and engineering standards Requirements Essential:
NVQ Level 3 in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering Strong fault-finding skills Full UK Driving Licence Clean criminal record (DBS required) Ability to pass medical and drug & alcohol screening Safety-conscious and detail-focused Desirable:
Rail/plant / HGV / industrial experience Ex-forces engineering background (REME, RAF, Marine, etc.) Electrical bias (preferred but not essential) Engineering Backgrounds Considered Rail vehicle maintenance Automotive / HGV / plant Aerospace Industrial maintenance Why Apply?
