Job Description
Enterprise Control Systems (ECS), a division of SPX Technologies, specialises in high-performance RF technology supporting global defence, law enforcement, and security markets. Based in Wappenham, Northamptonshire, ECS is known for advanced RF data links, counter-drone solutions, and secure communications systems used in demanding, mission-critical environments.
We are looking for an RF Design Engineer to join a small, skilled team of five covering embedded, product, mechanical, and RF disciplines. You’ll be involved in both New Product Introduction (NPI) and Sustaining Engineering across ECS’s specialist products. This role suits someone with some RF design experience who is eager to grow, develop, and take ownership of their work. A military background isn’t required, but commercial RF or related experience is a bonus. The position focuses on general RF circuit design with the chance to explore advanced technology such as converters, power supplies, and non-linear design and simulations.
This is a full-time, permanent role offered on a hybrid basis, with a minimum of three days a week in the office.
Key Responsibilities:
RF Circuit Design: Contribute to system architecture, RF simulation, schematic capture, and PCB layout. Work primarily on general RF circuits with opportunities to support high-power amplifiers, converters, and power supplies.
Product Development: Support the full product lifecycle from requirements gathering through to testing and validation.
Technical Support & Troubleshooting: Help resolve RF-related issues and collaborate across engineering teams to ensure high-quality product performance.
Independent Work: Manage your own tasks and testing with support available from senior engineers when needed.
Collaboration: Share ideas, contribute to improvements, and learn from a close-knit team.
What We’re Looking For:
Some experience in RF design or a related engineering role within a commercial environment.
Familiarity with PCB design tools and RF simulation software, plus understanding of RF components such as amplifiers, filters, antennas, and basics of EMC.
Nice-to-have skills include knowledge of converters, power supplies, or advanced test equipment like network analysers and spectrum analysers.
Ability to work independently and take responsibility for assigned projects.
Degree in Engineering or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
British citizenship or eligibility for Security Clearance (SC) is required.
Why Join ECS?
Innovation with Purpose: Work on technology that supports security and complex global missions.
Career Development: Access to cutting-edge tools, mentorship, and opportunities to expand your RF expertise.
Global Backing: Enjoy the agility of a specialist engineering team with the stability of a global organisation behind it.
Ready to grow your RF career? Join ECS and help shape the next of secure RF technology.
