Quantity Surveyor Location: UK wide role (required to travel to office locations 2-3 times a week) Day Rate: £500 per day via umbrella (inside IR35) Contract Length: 6 months
We're supporting a major UK infrastructure programme as it expands its commercial capability and are now seeking experienced Quantity Surveyors to strengthen delivery and development teams across a diverse portfolio of projects.
This is a flexible opportunity for strong QS professionals who enjoy operating in complex environments, adding real commercial value, and working across nationally significant infrastructure schemes.
The Role
As a Quantity Surveyor, you'll provide commercial expertise across a portfolio of infrastructure projects, supporting either pre‑contract development work or post‑contract delivery activity, depending on background and preference.
Key responsibilities will include:
Managing and assuring costs across live infrastructure projects Supporting or leading commercial activity on NEC contracts, particularly Option C (target cost) Challenging contractor costs, compensation events, and forecasts Providing cost control, forecasting, and commercial reporting Supporting risk management and contingency processes Working closely with delivery, commercial, and stakeholder teams Attending site as required to maintain commercial oversight Supporting mentoring or guidance of more junior QS team members where appropriateSkills & Experience Required
Proven experience operating at Senior / Level 7 Quantity Surveyor level or equivalent Strong working knowledge of NEC contracts, especially Option C Experience within construction or infrastructure environments Confident working on site and within delivery teams Strong commercial judgement and ability to challenge robustly but constructively Willingness to travel as projects require (UK‑wide) Pre‑contract or development‑side experience (estimating, early engagement) Exposure to ECI and/or contract options such as X22 Experience mentoring or supporting junior QS professionals Background in large, complex or regulated programmesPlease note: Due to the high volume of applications, only successful candidates will be contacted.
