Quantity Surveyor Location: Edgware Salary: £50,000 – £60,000 package (car allowance, bonus, pension, healthcare) Contract Type: Permanent Sector: Main Contractor – Commercial Build A leading main contractor is seeking a Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team, delivering high-quality commercial build schemes ranging from £40m to £120m in value. The company is recognised for its structured project delivery, long-standing client relationships and technical excellence across large-scale construction projects. Key Responsibilities: Obtain and assess multiple quotations from the supply chain for all domestic work packages Ensure enquiry documentation is comprehensive and aligned with contractual requirements Carry out commercial assessment of subcontractor quotations with the site team Support contract preparation and execution, including insurance, bonds and warranties Ensure proper subcontract orders are placed in line with authorisation levels Prepare and submit interim valuations and variations in accordance with client contracts Assess and authorise subcontractor payments and invoices Manage debt collection in collaboration with the accounts team Support final account agreements and cost reporting procedures Ensure strong commercial governance, record-keeping, and risk management across projects Liaise with project teams to provide commercial insight and updates Work closely with estimating and pre-construction teams on cost planning and tender returns Experience and Qualifications: Degree-qualified in Quantity Surveying or equivalent experience Proven experience delivering commercial construction projects above £10m Strong understanding of construction methods, procurement, and contractual compliance Proficient with Microsoft Excel and commercial management systems (COINS or similar ) Excellent communication, negotiation, and organisational skills Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently and maintain strong attention to detail This is an excellent opportunity for a Quantity Surveyor looking to develop their career with a forward-thinking contractor delivering major commercial projects.
