EA Associates are working with a prestigious contract housebuilder who are looking to recruit an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join their team on a large-scale residential scheme in Chelmsford.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-established and highly regarded business, delivering a flagship development with long-term work secured. You will be site-based, working as part of a dedicated project team and playing a key role in the commercial success of the scheme.
The role will suit a commercially astute Quantity Surveyor who is comfortable being hands-on and working closely with operational teams on site.
The Role: Working as part of a site-based team, you will take responsibility for the day-to-day commercial management of the project, ensuring cost control, value, and efficiency are maintained throughout. Given the stage and scale of the development, a strong understanding of groundworks and infrastructure packages would be highly beneficial.
Key Responsibilities:
* Managing the commercial aspects of a large residential development
* Working closely with Site Managers, Project Managers, and the wider site team
* Procurement of subcontractors and package management, with a strong focus on groundworks and early-phase packages
* Preparing and managing valuations, variations, and final accounts
* Cost reporting, forecasting, and budget control
* Identifying and managing commercial risks and opportunities
* Monitoring subcontractor performance and payments
* Supporting the project to ensure it is delivered within budget and programme
Requirements:
* Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor within housebuilding or main contracting
* Experience working on site as part of a delivery team
* Strong understanding of construction processes and cost control
* Good knowledge of groundworks and infrastructure packages highly beneficial
* Strong communication and negotiation skills
