Quantity Surveyor - Specialist Sub-Contractor \n\nManchester\n\nSalary: £45,000 - £55,000 + package\n\nYour new company\n\nOur client is a well-established specialist sub-contractor with a strong reputation in delivering high-quality building envelope and façade solutions across the UK. With decades of expertise in restoration, cladding, and external works, they partner with leading main contractors and developers on both heritage projects and modern large-scale developments. Due to continued growth and a strong pipeline of projects in the North West, they are now seeking a Quantity Surveyor to join their Manchester-based team.\n\nYour new role\n\nOur client is seeking an ambitious and commercially minded Quantity Surveyor with a sub-contractor background.
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing costs, contracts, and financial performance on a range of projects, with the opportunity to gain exposure to high-profile schemes. While roofing and cladding experience would be highly desirable, it is not essential - what matters most is strong commercial acumen and proven experience working for a sub-contractor within the construction sector.\n\nResponsibilities will include:\n\nPreparing, managing, and evaluating project costings from tender through to final account\n\nManaging sub-contractor accounts, variations, and payments\n\nPreparing interim valuations and cost reports for senior management and clients\n\nMonitoring project budgets, forecasts, and profitability\n\nSupporting the preparation and negotiation of claims and variations\n\nLiaising closely with site teams to ensure accurate reporting of progress and costs\n\nBuilding and maintaining strong relationships with clients, contractors, and supply chain partners\n\nEnsuring all commercial processes are adhered to in line with company standards and policies\n\nWhat you will need to succeed:\n\nProven experience as a Quantity Surveyor working for a specialist sub-contractor within construction\n\nKnowledge of JCT and/or NEC contracts\n\nStrong financial and contractual awareness\n\nExcellent communication and negotiation skills\n\nThe ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously\n\nRoofing and cladding sector experience is desirable, but not essential\n\nRelevant qualifications (HNC/HND/Degree in Quantity Surveying or similar)\n\nWhat you get in return:\n\nCompetitive salary of £45,000 - £55,000 (DOE) plus package\n\nOpportunity to work with a respected and growing specialist sub-contractor with a varied and exciting portfolio of projects\n\nSupportive team environment with genuine scope for professional development and career progression\n\nExposure to both heritage restoration and modern façade projects, offering variety and technical challenge\n\nStability and security within a business that has been operating successfully in the UK market for over 50 years\n\nApply: If you're interested in this opportunity, then please get in touch today with our Commercial Specialist, Mark Harris. \n\nBuilding Careers UK specialises in Construction and Property recruitment and serves as an employment agency for permanent recruitment and an employment business for the supply of temporary workers.
