Job Description

Quantity Surveyor\nLocation: Portsmouth\nOffice and on-site (live projects)\nSalary: £40-£55k\n\nIf you’re looking for a QS role that lets you actually shape decisions — not drown in bureaucracy — this could be the change you’ve been waiting for.\n\nThis family-run construction business (c. £5m turnover) has built its name on long-term relationships and repeat clients who genuinely value quality. Working directly with the leadership team, you’ll manage 4–5 projects a month (typically around £500k each) and have real influence on how things are delivered.\n\nWhat you’ll do:\n\n * \n\n Lead cost management across multiple live projects\n\n * \n\n Prepare valuations, variations and final accounts\n\n * \n\n Work closely with loyal clients and trusted subcontractors\n\n * \n\n Input directly into project decisions and commercial strategy\n\nWhat you’ll need:\n\n * \n\n Experience in a QS or Assistant QS role - ideally on fit-out and refurbishment projects\n\n * \n\n Solid understanding of cost planning, valuations and commercial reporting\n\n * \n\n Ability to manage multiple projects and build strong client relationships\n\nWhy this job is different:\nThis isn’t a corporate, high-pressure QS environment.
