Quantity Surveyor - Manchester\n\n£55k - £65k + Package\n\nYour new company:\n Our client is a well-established civil engineering and surfacing specialist operating across the North West. Known for delivering high-quality road, infrastructure, and surfacing projects, they pride themselves on their professionalism, attention to detail, and commitment to excellence. The company has a strong regional presence and a reputation for delivering complex projects on time and to budget.\n\nYour new role:\n Our client is seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join their growing team based in Manchester.
This is an exciting opportunity for a commercially-minded professional to take ownership of the financial management of civil engineering and surfacing projects, working closely with project managers, contractors, and clients to ensure projects are delivered efficiently and profitably.\n\nResponsibilities will include:\n\nPreparation and management of budgets, cost plans, and forecasts for civil engineering and surfacing projects.\n\nMeasurement and valuation of works, including interim valuations and final accounts.\n\nManaging procurement and subcontractor agreements to ensure value for money.\n\nPreparing and reviewing tender documentation and contracts.\n\nMonitoring project expenditure against budgets and providing regular reports to senior management.\n\nIdentifying and mitigating financial risks throughout project delivery.\n\nProviding commercial advice and support to project teams to optimise profitability.\n\nAssisting with claims, variations, and dispute resolution as required.\n\nWhat you will need to succeed:\n\nProven experience as a Quantity Surveyor, ideally within civil engineering, surfacing, or infrastructure projects.\n\nStrong knowledge of NEC and JCT contracts.\n\nExcellent financial management and reporting skills.\n\nStrong commercial awareness and the ability to identify cost-saving opportunities.\n\nAbility to manage multiple projects and priorities effectively.\n\nProficient in relevant software (e.g., MS Excel, CostX, or similar).\n\nExcellent communication and negotiation skills.\n\nRelevant qualification (e.g., RICS, CIOB, or equivalent).\n\nWhat you get in return:\n\nCompetitive salary of £55k - £65k plus package.\n\nCompany benefits including pension scheme, healthcare, and bonus opportunities.\n\nOpportunity to work on high-profile civil engineering and surfacing projects across the North West.\n\nCareer development and progression within a reputable, growing company.\n\nSupportive and professional working environment with a strong emphasis on quality, teamwork, and personal development.\n\nApply: If you're interested in this opportunity, then please get in touch today with our Commercial Specialist, Mark Harris. \n\nBuilding Careers UK specialises in Construction and Property recruitment and serves as an employment agency for permanent recruitment and an employment business for the supply of temporary workers.
