QUANTITY SURVEYOR REQUIRED: Brentwood, Essex

Duration: Permanent

Rate for the Quantity Surveyor: £50,000 - £70,000 (Negotiable) per annum

Role: We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Quantity Surveyor to join our dynamic construction team. The successful candidate will play a key role in managing all costs associated with construction projects, ensuring delivery within budget while maintaining the highest quality standards.

Main Duties of the Quantity Surveyor:

* Cost Estimation & Budgeting: Prepare accurate cost estimates, including materials, labour, and preliminaries.

* Tendering & Bidding: Manage tender preparation, review drawings and specifications, and produce detailed cost proposals.

* Contract Administration: Oversee contracts, ensuring compliance and handling variations, payments, and claims.

* Procurement: Source and appoint suppliers and subcontractors, ensuring best value and quality.

* Cost Control: Monitor project costs and cash flow, identifying and addressing any variances.

* Valuations & Reporting: Conduct site valuations and produce regular financial and progress reports.

* Risk Management: Identify potential risks and implement proactive solutions to mitigate them.

* Final Accounts: Prepare and negotiate final accounts with clients and subcontractors.

* Collaboration: Work closely with project managers, architects, engineers, and stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery.

Requirements:

* Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field (RICS chartership preferred but not essential).

* Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a Quantity Surveyor role within the construction industry.

* Strong understanding of construction contracts (e.g. JCT, NEC) and industry cost databases.

* Proficiency in software such as CostX, Bluebeam, Buildsoft, and Microsoft Office Suite.

* Strong numerical ability with excellent cost evaluation skills.

* Clear and professional written and verbal communication skills.

* High level of accuracy in financial and project documentation.

* Ability to resolve issues proactively and effectively.

* Comfortable working in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
