Quality, Health & Safety and Environmental Assurance Manager.
As a £multi-million business that supplies advanced high technology security equipment to support Police, governments and large corporations we have maintained growth trajectory for over 40 years. Based in the West Midlands we are on a technology campus within minutes of the M42, M40 and M5.
Following a shift in structure we are looking to attract a new QHSE Assurance Manager.
Simply put you will establish the culture, policy & behaviour around QHSE (Quality, Health & Safety, Environment). You will have been recruited for what you bring and what you do, then it is time to deliver that!
You’ll implement and set the standards to become recognised as industry leading through your own actions and influence.
We’re looking for a pragmatist that accepts perfection is the goal, but every single step forwards in safety or quality is progress and so much better than inactivity.
You must be an influencer that elevates Quality and H&S behaviour through nudges and recognition rather than rules and makes friends rather than fearful followers.
We know there are bigger more demanding or pressured alternatives out there looking for your skills, but we all enjoy working here (we have fantastic long service) and we want someone to lead QHSE Assurance who will do so with a smile and be proud of working with us and delivering your own achievements that protect the population and supports law and enforcement on a global basis.
Your responsibilities encompass running audits scheduled and random. Maintaining and attaining Standards such as ISO 9001, ESG / ISO 14001, ISO 45001, OHAS 18001, RoHS, REACH. Fundamentally you will be responsible for monitoring and maintaining current and preparing for and implementing future industry and statutory standards.
You’ll be able to identify and prove that you are making the culture improve by implementing and selecting the correct KPIs and using leading indicators rather than acting as a score-counting backstop reporting “slips and trips”. You’ll ensure actions & behaviours continue to drive performance standards upwards.
You’ll be responsible for building the relationship with our suppliers to ensure they match our standards and those demanded by our customers, but accepting pragmatism again rather than adhering to the most unforgiving application of the Standards. Build friendships and allies that want to help because we’re a fair and decent business, never a bully!
As a manufacturing company producing electrical and electronic components we have a RoHS and REACH requirements and policies and these along with other standards such as ISO 9001 are built into our QMS, Quality Management System, attention to and maintenance of which will fall under your remit. Experience of these policies and Standards will be critical.
Reporting to the Head of Operations you will work with him to remove or reduce his concerns and assure him your Quality, Health & Safety and Environmental policies are achieving the standards.
You will probably have:
* A degree in Engineering, Quality, Health & Safety (H&S) or Environmental Management.
* A NEBOSH Diploma or an equivalent in Occupational Health and Safety.
* Auditor certification within ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001.
* At least 5 years high quality experience as a senior engineer within Quality Assurance or as key influencer with Health and Safety having operated within a UK legislative environment.
* Deep knowledge of best practices and legislation around QHSE and ESG.
* The Ability to manage a variety of projects.
* Attention to detail but also consider the strategic implications of your actions.
* Excellent communication and IT skills.
And you are:
* A leader through emotional intelligence rather than authority.
* Pragmatic and solutions oriented.
* A great, passionate communicator, persuasive, like your favourite teacher.
* Capable of generating (and maintaining) momentum.
* Able to translate rules and translate them into them understandable behaviour.
We have a 40+ year heritage of retaining people and making them a critical long-term part of our plans and our team. We understand the importance and benefits of being a part of an established high performing team and the value of each individual within that.
Our products supports Police forces and as such are in steady constant demand, so business is always good.
