Quality EngineerContek have formed a fantastic partnership with a client in Reading who specialise in the manufacture of high-volume and small-batch precision components for sectors including fluid power, medical, and specialist automotive.Due to continued growth, our client is seeking a hands-on Quality Engineer with experience in First Article Inspection Reports (FAIR) and manufacturing quality processes. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to take ownership of quality activities while driving process improvement across the business.This is a salaried position based on a 40-hour working week.Role OverviewLead and support First Article Inspection Reports (FAIR) in line with customer and industry requirements.Perform hands-on inspection activities including visual and manual inspection of parts and components.Interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, and tolerances to ensure product compliance.Manage non-conformance processes, including root cause analysis and corrective actions.Support quality planning, process development, and continuous improvement initiatives.Conduct data analysis to identify trends, drive investigations, and implement solutions.Prepare technical reports and present findings to internal teams and customers.Liaise with customer quality representatives to coordinate inspection and verification activities.Carry out internal audits and QC surveillance to ensure adherence to quality standards.Take responsibility for identifying, reporting, and managing project non-conformances (scrap, rework, concession, etc.).Person SpecificationStrong hands-on approach with the ability to work autonomously and take initiative.Prepare and submit PPAP documentationto meet customer standards.Experience with FAIR documentation and submission (ISO9001)Good understanding of CNC machining processes and manufacturing environments.Competent in problem-solving methodologies (e.g., 8D, Root Cause Analysis, CAPA).Analytical mindset with strong attention to detail and a systematic approach.Confident communicator, able to work cross-functionally and influence stakeholders.Proficient in MS Office and quality-related documentation systems.Self-motivated team player capable of building strong working relationships.Essential ExperienceMinimum 5+ years experience in a Quality Engineering or Quality Technician role within a manufacturing/engineering environment.Proven experience in inspection, non-conformance management, and quality systems.Exposure to FAIR processes is highly desirable.JBRP1_UKTJ
