Job Description
Our client is a well-established and successful manufacturer, they are looking for an experienced Quality Control Engineer to join their team.\n\nPLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING REQUIREMENTS BEFORE APPLYING:\n\n * You have at least 5 years experience as a Quality Control Engineer, or similar role in a heavy manufacturing / engineering / automotive company.\n\n * You have a Level 3 qualification or higher in a related Engineering / Manufacturing / Quality subject.\n\n * Proficient in corrective action resolution using recognised methods such as A3/8D.\n\n * Strong ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications (3D CAD).\n\n * Experience in using Polyworks Inspector Project or equivalent software.\n\n * Knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T’s).\n\n * Knowledge of LEAN principles and VAVE would be a definite advantage.\n\n * Experience using coordinate measurement machines & laser scanners.\n\n * Experience with coaching, mentoring and performance management.\n\n * Proficient in monitoring, managing and reporting on key metrics and KPI’s.\n\n * Ability and willingness to travel throughout the UK and globally if needed (occasionally).\n\nSalary up to £40,000 depending on experience.\n\nHours of work: 37 hours per week, Monday to Thursday 8:00 - 16:30, and Friday 8:00 to 13:00.\n\nResponsibilities:\n\nThe purpose of the job is to aid the Quality Control Manager in the investigation and analysis of all quality control issues, whilst maintaining all current internal quality standards. You will support the management and day to day activities of manufacturing Quality Coordinators. You will be responsible for the management, compliance and upkeep of the quality & environmental procedures, records, and documents relevant to the role.\n\n * Support, mentor and train Quality Control Technicians and Coordinators.\n\n * Assist Quality Control Manager in setting clear targets and monitoring performance.\n\n * Lead quality investigations across departments, ensuring timely resolution and implementation of corrective actions.\n\n * Develop and author detailed work packages and standard operating procedures (SOPs) for quality investigations and metrology processes.\n\n * Chair cross-functional investigation teams, driving collaboration between Quality, Production, Engineering, and Supply Chain departments.\n\n * Perform advanced root cause analysis using structured problem-solving methodologies (e.g., 8D, A3, FMEA), and present findings to senior leadership.\n\n * Manage project timelines and deliverables for quality improvement initiatives, ensuring alignment with business objectives.\n\n * Oversee the calibration, programming, and advanced use of metrology equipment, including CMMs, laser scanners, and digital inspection tools.\n\n * Author and review high-level technical reports and presentations, ensuring clarity, accuracy, and alignment with regulatory and customer requirements.\n\n * Provide monthly progress updates and strategic insights to management, identifying trends and recommending continuous improvement opportunities.\n\nThis role would suit someone who has experience of a Quality role in a heavy manufacturing / engineering environment.
