A global engineering manufacturer with a reputation for technical excellence is looking to recruit a Quality Control / Assurance Engineer to support the inspection, compliance and certification of complex mechanical systems.
Based at an established manufacturing facility in Kirkbymoorside, this role offers the opportunity to work on world-class engineered products used in demanding offshore and subsea environments. You will play a key role in ensuring quality standards are met from goods-in through to final assembly, working closely with engineering, production and suppliers.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Quality Engineer who enjoys hands-on inspection, problem-solving and continuous improvement within a high-specification engineering environment.
As Quality Engineer, you will be responsible for maintaining product quality and compliance across mechanical, machining and weld activities.
Inspecting fabricated, machined and assembled components against engineering drawings and specifications
Performing mechanical, dimensional, visual, paint and weld inspections on-site and at supplier premises
Supporting engineering change control and non-conformance management
Preparing and maintaining quality documentation, certification packs and inspection records
Supporting vendor quality management and supplier audits
Monitoring corrective and preventative actions to ensure timely closure
Assisting with quality system compliance and continuous improvement initiatives
Maintaining strong housekeeping and health, safety and environmental standards
To be successful in this Quality Engineer role, you will have:
5–10 years’ experience in a quality control or quality assurance role within a mechanical manufacturing environment
Experience inspecting machined, fabricated and welded components
Strong ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
Hands-on experience using measuring equipment such as vernier callipers and micrometres
ISO auditor qualification or equivalent
Working knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 45001 and ISO 14001
Understanding of lean manufacturing, TQM and continuous improvement tools such as PDCA, DMAIC, Six Sigma and 5S
Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Access
A proactive, organised and detail-focused approach
You will also hold a full UK driving licence and be willing to travel to UK supplier and client sites when required.
