Leading Investment Bank - Python Developer - Glasgow

A leading global investment bank is seeking a Python Developer to join its Corporate Workplace Technology group, building backend services that support enterprise operations across real estate, security, travel, business continuity, and workplace productivity.

In this role, you’ll modernise backend systems, improve code quality, and design Python-based services and APIs used firmwide. You’ll work closely with business teams to translate requirements into technical designs, enhance system reliability, and contribute to ongoing platform upgrades within an Agile environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Build and maintain Python backend services and APIs.
• Improve code hygiene, performance, and overall system robustness.
• Translate business requirements into technical designs and service architecture.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate services and deliver features end-to-end.
• Participate in code reviews, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Skills & Experience

• 5+ years' Python backend development experience.
• Strong knowledge of SQL, REST APIs, authentication (OAuth, SAML), and design patterns.
• Experience with Flask/Django/FastAPI, SQLAlchemy, Git, and Agile/Scrum.
• Familiarity with microservices, distributed systems, and testing frameworks (e.g., PyTest).
• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills; degree in CS/Engineering or equivalent.
