Overview

We are expanding our Public Sector audit services within the Sumer group across our UK-wide hubs. With a strong foundation, we’re looking to grow our reach across the UK, and to support this expansion, we’re seeking an experienced Audit Manager to join the team.

As part of one of the UK and Ireland’s fastest-growing accountancy firms, you’ll join a collaborative team that values integrity, excellence, and innovation.

Although this role can be based anywhere in the UK, we’re looking for someone with a strong client-facing presence who can ideally be based in one of our hubs to help build and grow a team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Managing a varied portfolio of public sector audit clients across the UK
  • Leading audit delivery, ensuring compliance with audit standards and regulatory requirements
  • Training and mentoring junior staff, helping them grow professionally
  • Building trusted relationships with clients and acting as their key point of contact
  • Overseeing financial performance and risk management of your portfolio
  • Supporting broader firm initiatives, including business development and service innovation

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise

  • ACA/ACCA or equivalent qualified
  • Proven experience in public sector audit, with strong familiarity with sector‑specific regulatory and frameworks
  • Solid organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently
  • Strong commercial awareness and understanding of the public sector’s financial environment
  • Proven ability to lead teams, support colleagues, and help others grow in their roles
  • A proactive, collaborative approach to problem‑solving
