You will work closely with the underwriters and over time build your internal and external network to develop your underwriting capability.About the Team:Commercial Property has achieved significant profitable and sustainable growth over the last 10 years. Our success is built upon our integrated business unit model combining expertise of all internal stakeholders.Key Responsibilities:Strategy and PlanningSupport the team in the annual business plan for the Underwriting division to make appropriate decisionsContribute and participate in all meetings to share and develop strategy, knowledge and best practiceContribute as and when required to the planning process through research and preparation of relevant materialsDeliverySupport the underwriters by providing analysis of risks submitted by our brokersMaintain relationships with customers, brokers, business partners, reinsurers and colleagues to maximise influence and achieve business objectivesDevelop knowledge of market dynamics and market cycles to support the performance of the underwriting teamOver time underwrite insurance risks in accordance with the business plan and personal authority to meet business objectivesSupport the review and analysis of the portfolio, to identify progress towards business objectivesProcess entries, as required, properly onto relevant systems in a timely manner ensuring accuracy of data with relation to both underwriting and aggregate exposuresPolicy, Process and ProceduresCompliance with all applicable internal and external laws, regulations, policies, procedures and guidanceAdhere to underwriting standards, instructions and best practice methodology in order to minimise riskSkills and Experience:Understanding of relevant market conditions for Commercial Property Insurance and/or Knowledge of Real Estate would be an advantage but is not a requirementGood knowledge of legal and regulatory requirementsBecome proficient in the knowledge of underwriting systems, processes and procedures.Analytical and comfortable with manipulation of large data sets into a presentable format using Excel & Power BIA high level of numeracy and literacy skillsGood interpersonal and communication skillsConfident in proactively building relationships with internal and external contactsStrong organisational and prioritisation skillsExcellent attention to detailExperience gained within the insurance industryIntent or progress towards the relevant qualificationsAbout Liberty Specialty Markets (LSM)Liberty Specialty Markets is part of Global Risk Solutions and the broader Liberty Mutual Insurance Group, which is a leading global insurer.
