Job Description

Role Overview\n\nWe are seeking an experienced Project Manager with Rail Mechanical & Electrical (M&E) expertise to lead the safe and successful delivery of rail infrastructure works in Birmingham. The role involves managing M&E packages across rail environments, ensuring delivery to programme, budget, and quality standards while maintaining full compliance with rail industry safety and assurance requirements. \nThe successful candidate will have demonstrable experience delivering M&E projects within live rail environments, ideally on schemes associated with Network Rail, London Underground, or other UK rail authorities.\n\nKey Responsibilities\n\nProject Delivery\n\nLead the end-to-end delivery of rail M&E packages including power, lighting, containment, fire systems, comms, and associated infrastructure.\nDevelop and manage project programmes in line with overall master schedule.\nEnsure works are delivered in compliance with Network Rail standards and client specifications.\nManage subcontractors and direct labour teams.\nOversee procurement of materials and specialist services.\n\nStakeholder Management\n\nAct as primary interface with client representatives, principal contractors, and rail authorities.\nAttend progress meetings and provide detailed reporting.\nCoordinate with rail possession planning teams and access planners.\n\nQuality & Assurance\n\nEnsure inspection and test plans (ITPs) are implemented.\nManage commissioning and handover documentation.\nEnsure full compliance with project assurance and asset protection requirements.\n\nEssential Requirements\n\nProven experience as a Project Manager delivering rail MEP projects.\nStrong understanding of rail standards and procedures.\nExperience working within live rail environments.\nKnowledge of possession planning and rail access requirements.\nExcellent leadership and communication skills.\nCommercially astute with strong contractual knowledge (e.g., NEC contracts)
