Rubicon Consulting is currently recruiting for Project Manager on a 12 month Contract, based in Hampshire with Potential Hybrid working Role Summary We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead the delivery of substation construction, upgrade, and maintenance projects. The successful candidate will oversee all phases of project execution — from planning and design coordination through construction, commissioning, and handover — ensuring safety, quality, schedule, and budget compliance. This role requires strong technical understanding of substation systems, excellent stakeholder management, and the ability to drive multidisciplinary teams in a high-risk, regulated environment. Project Leadership * Lead end-to-end delivery of substation projects including planning, procurement, construction, testing, and commissioning. * Develop detailed project plans, schedules, risk registers, and progress reports. * Ensure compliance with relevant standards, regulations, and utility/DSO/TSO requirements. Stakeholder & Team Management * Coordinate internal engineering teams, contractors, suppliers, and authorities. * Facilitate regular project meetings to ensure alignment on scope, schedule, risks, and actions. * Manage customer expectations and maintain strong communication throughout the project lifecycle. Safety, Quality & Compliance * Champion safe working practices in line with company and industry regulations (e.g., CDM, H&S policies). * Ensure all site activities adhere to safety rules, method statements, and permit-to-work systems. * Implement quality assurance plans and oversee inspections, audits, and documentation. Cost & Schedule Control * Manage project budgets, forecasts, procurement activities, and commercial reporting. * Monitor progress and performance, identifying variances and implementing corrective actions. * Negotiate with contractors and suppliers to optimize cost, delivery, and quality. Technical & Operational * Review engineering designs, drawings, and specifications for HV/LV substation systems. * Support technical problem-solving during construction and commissioning phases. * Oversee FAT, SAT, and final commissioning ensuring readiness for energization and handover. Requirements * Proven experience managing substation or high-voltage (HV/MV) electrical infrastructure projects. * Strong knowledge of substation components (e.g., transformers, switchgear, protection systems, control & SCADA). * Understanding of construction methodologies, safety regulations, and utility standards. * Demonstrated ability to manage budgets, schedules, contractors, and risk. * Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills. * Proficiency in project management tools (e.g., MS Project, Primavera P6).
