Job Description
Project Manager – Engineering
Drive Complex Engineering Projects from Concept to Completion
Are you a project manager who thrives on technical challenge, cross‑functional collaboration, and delivering engineered solutions that make a real impact? We are looking for a proactive, commercially aware Project Manager to take ownership of medium-to-complex engineering projects across our UK operations.
This is a role for someone who loves variety, influence, and accountability. You’ll be part of a project team that are the driving force behind project delivery—leading teams, engaging customers, managing risk, and ensuring every project lands on time, on budget, and to the highest quality standards.
What You’ll Be Doing
You’ll take full responsibility for the end‑to‑end delivery of assigned engineering projects, including:
Project Leadership & Delivery
Own the full project lifecycle from initiation through to completion and customer handover. Lead cross‑functional collaboration between engineering, design, production, quality, and commercial teams. Set the tone for project execution—driving clarity, pace, and accountability.
Customer & Stakeholder Engagement
Build strong, trusted relationships with clients through transparent communication and consistent delivery. Produce and present daily/weekly/monthly project updates in line with contractual requirements. Support customers through technical and commercial assurance processes.
Commercial & Contract Management
Control project budgets, ensuring profitability and cost discipline. Manage risks, opportunities, and corrective actions to protect delivery and margin. Apply contract terms effectively, including EWNs and CEs, ensuring scope clarity and compliance.
Operational Delivery
Maintain a regular presence on the shop floor and at customer sites to verify progress and gather feedback. Work closely with production, engineering, and quality teams to plan workloads and meet schedule commitments. Support tendering activity with high‑quality estimates and technical input.
Scope & Influence
Travel to all UK engineering sites when required. Participate in key meetings and influence decision‑making. Collaborate with Supply Chain to maximise value and identify contractual gaps or risks.
What You Bring
Essential
A recognised project management qualification (Prince2, APM, PMI). Formal engineering qualification (HNC/HND minimum). Experience managing medium-to-complex industrial, mechanical, or process engineering projects. Strong capability with Microsoft Project and Excel. Ability to manage your own workload and coordinate others under pressure. A collaborative mindset with strong communication and leadership skills.
Desirable
Knowledge of industry-specific regulations, codes, and standards. Strong analytical and negotiation skills with the ability to balance strategic and detailed thinking.
Who You Are
You’re someone who naturally builds trust, communicates clearly, and sets high standards. You enjoy leading teams, solving problems, and driving execution. You’re commercially aware, safety‑focused, and always looking for ways to improve how things are done.
Why Join Us?
You’ll be part of a growing engineering business delivering bespoke, high‑value solutions across multiple sectors. You’ll have autonomy, visibility, and the opportunity to shape how projects are delivered—while working with talented engineers and technical specialists across the UK.
