We are seeking an experienced Public Health practitioner with knowledge of procurement and project management for a 12-month fixed-term Project Manager role in Public Health.
Mental health is a significant public health issue. No other health condition matches mental illness in prevalence, persistence, and impact. The primary purpose of the Project Manager is to promote positive mental health and wellbeing in Leicester by developing and implementing specific public mental health initiatives.
Addressing health inequalities is a priority for the local authority. Social and economic inequalities are major determinants of mental illness, underlying other risk factors.
Main duties of the job
As a Project Manager, you will be part of a team focused on preventing mental illness and promoting mental health across Leicester's population. Improving mental health reduces inequalities, enhances physical health, decreases health-risk behaviors, increases life expectancy, and improves social functioning and quality of life. The benefits of mental health promotion are experienced across generations.
You will work Monday to Friday, 37 hours per week, with hybrid working arrangements including at City Hall, Charles Street Leicester. Your typical day will involve collaboration with the Mental Health and Public Health teams, as well as engagement with community organizations, service providers, and colleagues in procurement, legal, and finance. You will contribute to business cases, and address challenges related to commissioning and project delivery.
