Overview
Projects Director - Corporate Accounts
Location: UK (London / South East focus, national remit) Division: Project Professional Services
Mitie is looking for a Projects Director - Corporate Accounts to take ownership of a high‑profile, demanding portfolio of blue‑chip clients and help shape the future of our Projects and Professional Services offering. This is a genuinely senior role - combining strategic leadership, client gravitas, portfolio ownership and growth, not just project delivery. If you’re comfortable operating in ambiguity, influencing at Board and Executive level, and turning complex stakeholder environments into long‑term partnerships, this role will give you real scope to make your mark.
Responsibilities

Provide clarity and leadership in a fast‑moving, matrixed and sometimes ambiguous environment

Navigate complex, political and fragmented client organisations
Lead calm, constructive and credible strategic challenge when required
Protect and enhance client brand, workplace experience and end‑user outcomes
Oversee governance, commercial control, risk, safety and assurance across all projects
Ensure compliance with CDM, statutory construction requirements and contractual frameworks (JCT / NEC)
Champion consistent quality, sustainability and best‑in‑class delivery
Lead a senior team of Heads of Projects (c. 3–4 direct reports, ~20+ indirect on key accounts)
Create an environment for high performance, accountability and development
Empower your team rather than defaulting to micromanagement
Identify and convert opportunities for upsell and new work within existing accounts
Provide SME input into bids, proposals and client opportunities
Help shift the business from “doing the day job” to proactive, strategic growth
Qualifications
Senior leadership experience delivering capital projects (£150k‑£15m) and programmes up to £100m

Deep understanding of project governance, risk, health & safety and statutory compliance
Outstanding stakeholder management and communication skills
Degree qualification (or equivalent experience); professional accreditation (APM, CIOB, RICS) advantageous
