Role Overview

The Project Architect plays a pivotal role in transforming architectural visions into tangible realities. This position balances creativity, technical proficiency, and project management skills. The Project Architect is responsible for overseeing the design and construction of projects, ensuring they meet client expectations and adhere to industry standards.


Salary Range

  • £40,000 - £49,500


Core Responsibilities

  1. Undertaking project feasibility studies
  2. Preparation and development of Building Information Models (BIM)
  3. Physical model making to explore design options
  4. Consultation with consultants in preparation of pre-planning information
  5. Extensive site analysis and context research
  6. Researching planning regulations and communicating with local authorities about planning permissions
  7. Production of design drawings and internal reports for submission to the Local Planning Authority
  8. Monitoring and discharge of planning conditions
  9. Drawing edits and revision issues as instructed by Line Manager
  10. Collating design information for each project and keeping it up to date
  11. Keeping up to date with industry trends
  12. Assisting with the production of project engagement information
  13. Drawing up risk assessments, looking at surveys and investigating other issues that could affect how a building is designed.
  14. Assistance with the production of the Designers Risk Assessment
  15. Setup and hold initial client briefing meetings to set project parameters
  16. Assist with the engagement of external consultants to support project delivery
  17. Preparation of end of stage reports
  18. Design and development of technical detailing package(s)
  19. Production and ongoing development of the architectural specification(s)
  20. Assist with the setup and administration of the Building Contract, where appropriate
  21. Assist with the production of the Health and Safety file in preparation for project handover
  22. Definition of resource requirements for various projects, across all RIBA Work Stages
  23. Management of internal resources to facilitate successful project delivery
  24. Monitoring and reporting of performance across junior roles
  25. Define, develop, and manage positive relationships with client, consultants, and project teams to promote future working opportunities
  26. Promote the business by attending any relevant expos, networking events, and other social events that might assist in expanding the client base of the practice


Competencies

  • Proficiency in software such as Revit, Adobe Indesign, Microsoft Office, Microsoft Teams, and Microsoft Loop.
  • Excellent communication and leadership abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
  • Strong understanding of the building regulations, planning policy, and industry standards.
  • Strong physical model-making skills. Preferred.


Qualifications

  • A relevant bachelor's degree, preferably in Architecture (RIBA Part 1 or equivalent).
  • A relevant master's degree, preferably in Architecture (RIBA Part 2 or equivalent).
  • Professional registration as an architect (RIBA Part 3 or equivalent) is preferred.
