Production Support Engineer

We currently have an excellent opportunity for a Production Support Engineer to join a leading engineering company based in Lymington.


Introduction

The Production Support Engineer will be akey member of the Operations team, responsible for ensuring efficient, high-quality production through effective process control, equipment readiness, documentation, and staff capability. The role acts as the first point of contact for manufacturing issues and plays a critical role in driving continuous improvement and production culture.


Responsibilities

  • Ensure the shop floor and production staff are equipped with the appropriate tools, documentation, and training to support efficient, high-quality manufacturing activities.
  • Liaise closely with the Quality & Process Engineer to identify, investigate, and resolve quality-related issues.
  • Lead / support continuous improvement initiatives, including Lean, Six Sigma, and Kaizen activities.
  • Ensure manufacturing equipment (including formers and presses) is maintained and serviced to agreed standards and available for use as required.
  • Act as the first point of contact for day-to-day manufacturing issues, escalating to the Operations Manager when necessary.
  • Work collaboratively with Operations to improve layouts, workflows, and overall production efficiency.
  • Become an active trainer of production skills and support handovers of new products and processes.


Ideal Experience

  • 25 years experience working in aproduction or manufacturing environment.
  • Strong understanding of process control, process optimisation, and problem-solving methodologies.
  • Ability (or willingness to learn) to maintain and support production equipment such as formers and presses.
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement tools (preferred).
  • Capability to train others and support effective handovers of new skills, products, and processes.
  • Strong communication skills, and a good understanding of production documentation and standard operating procedures.


Salary

£35K - £40K
