Edinburgh Napier University’s award-winning School of Arts & Creative Industries (SACI) hosts a range of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes and plays an active part in the creative industries across Scotland.

Currently ranking as a top 2 UK modern university for Film Production & Photography in The Guardian University Guide 2025, we are committed to creating a positive, empowering, and inclusive environment for teaching, learning, and scholarship for our students and staff alike.

As part of our ongoing initiative to provide a comprehensive support service to the Screen & Performing Arts subject area, we are currently recruiting a Film and Television Production Manager to join the team and assist us in maintaining our position as one of the top institutions for creative industries in UK Higher Education, by delivering high quality, student-centred support and guidance.

The Role:

The post of Film and Television Production Manager primarily involves supporting the production of a large number of short film and television exercises/projects each year, and you will be in an excellent position to use your strong background as a production manager in the scripted film and TV industry, to pass on valuable skills to our students.

The role will also give you the opportunity to use your experience of managing film crews, production teams and casts, as well as supervision of film or TV productions from script to delivery, to mentor and supervise students, in turn contributing to the delivery of our successful undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in Film and Television production.

Your excellent interpersonal skills will also serve you well as you engage with and develop effective working relationships with colleagues (and those external to the University), working with academic and technical staff to create and manage production and post-production schedules, ensuring access for undergraduate and postgraduate student projects, as well as other research initiatives.

Furthermore, your communication skills and working knowledge of UK film and TV industry will allow you to effectively deliver workshops, support and instruct on budgeting and scheduling using industry-standard software (e.g., Movie Magic); film production protocols and legal requirements; project delivery standards; and other legal and financial aspects of production.

This is a fantastic opportunity for you to pass on your knowledge to the next generation of filmmakers, ensuring that their learning experience is authentic and artistically fulfilling. If you are passionate about this and have the skills, knowledge and expertise, then we would love to hear from you.
