Title: Product Design Engineer

Location: Darlington, UK

Duration: 6 months (with strong likelihood of extension)

Work Mode: Hybrid (3 days onsite / 2 days remote)

Description:

Product-focused mechanical design role within a global power and engine manufacturing domain. The position is responsible for designing and developing engine components or systems, applying strong mechanical engineering and CAD expertise to deliver optimized, robust, and manufacturable solutions while working closely with cross-functional stakeholders across the product lifecycle.

Responsibilities:

• Lead design and development of engine components, subsystems, or systems
• Create, modify, and maintain high-quality 3D CAD models using Creo
• Own design concept creation, selection, optimization, and specification development
• Prepare and present design review packages for new product introductions and changes
• Apply GD&T, iDFMEA, DVA, and relevant CAE tools to support design decisions
• Collaborate independently with manufacturing, suppliers, and internal engineering teams
• Support technical problem solving and product issue resolution
• Provide technical guidance to junior engineers, technicians, and temporary resources as required

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
• Proven experience in engine component or engine system design and development
• Strong 3D CAD modelling and mechanical design experience (Creo required)
• Experience with mechanical analysis and design validation concepts
• Ability to work independently within cross-functional engineering environments
• Strong understanding of design for performance, durability, and manufacturability
