Good Afternoon,

I am currently representing Islington Council, who are offering an initial temporary contract for a period of 3- 6 months with a view to be extended or offered a permanent position for the right candidate at a rate which is negotiable dependent upon experience

We are looking for a Procurement & Strategic Category Lead this role will be: N1 2UD Hybrid

The right candidate will:

* Lead a Category working cross departmentally with the associated strategy, action plan, procurement forward plan pipeline of contracts.

* Lead a team of highly skilled cross-organisational subject specialist professionals, as well as team specialist professionals/trainee professionals. Those being lead likely already hold qualifications and experience. Be able to lead on development and project work whilst delivering your category.

* Front and act in the name of and with the authority of the Council on intricate and highly complex and or sensitive strategic procurement and category management matters. Resolve cross-service, cross-borough, cross-organisational procurement and strategic category management issues as and when required.

* Be responsible and accountable, grounded with an advanced and higher level of knowledge and experience including the skills of a CIPS Global Standards for Procurement and Supply competency level ‘Managerial

* Act as the critical friend, guide and subject matter expert advisor for procurement and strategic category management matters, with legislative, governance and policy frameworks at your fingertips.

We require the following:

* Post-qualification procurement and/or supply experience with some participant involvement at board level within a professional procurement and/or supply management environment.

* Experience in managing large scale strategic procurement and category management programmes with commercial negotiation in public sector, leading to or potential to have supply impact.

* Experience leading, managing and motivating groups of staff through strategic procurement and category management change programmes with savings, social value and other corporate aspirations as well as Climate Change and Challenging Inequality.
