With over £10.5bn in funds under management and 160,000+ members, NILGOSC play a vital role in public service delivery. As Procurement Officer, youll provide professional advice and hands on support across sourcing, tendering, and contract award, ensuring value for money, compliance with NI Public Procurement Policy, and alignment with the Procurement Act 2023. You will work closely with an experienced Procurement Manager and external CoPE, taking full ownership of lower value procurement activity, while contributing to larger-scale projects. A broad procurement remit - no two weeks are the same Generous public sector benefits, flexitime, and hybrid working A supportive, down-to-earth team that are committed to your professional development You will have space to learn and grow, without being thrown in the deep end What youll be doing Advising on procurement across the organisation Managing end-to-end activity for lower-value exercises Supporting larger tenders in partnership with the CoPE Maintaining the contract register, processing POs and invoice checks Tracking compliance, spend, and supplier performance Promoting social value and sustainable procurement practices Full job specification available upon request What youll bring You will need: Level 3 qualifications e.g. two A levels, BTEC Diploma, NVQ level 3 (or other equivalent level of qualification) and two years experience (within the last six years) of working in a regulated procurement environment OR A higher qualification (e.g. level 5/6 qualification (HMD or degree equivalent) + 1 years experience (within the last six years) of working in a regulated procurement environment Good knowledge and understanding of procurement processes, relevant legislation and best practice Plus: Confident communication and reporting skills A methodical, organised approach with strong numeracy and accuracy Solid MS Office skills and comfort working with data A proactive, learning mindset, comfortable navigating policy and procedure Desirable (but not essential): A professional procurement qualification (e.g. CIPS). If you are studying towards this, or are keen to embark on studies, NILGOSC can support this One year's experience (within the last six years) of working in a public sector procurement support environment One year's practical experience with the public sector tendering process, and of current public procurement policy, legislation and other best practice guidance The package Starting salary £35,235 NILGOSC CARE scheme pension 19% employer contribution 35 hours per week with flexitime / hybrid working after the training period 23 days leave (rising to 29 according to length of service) + 12 public holidays One personal wellness day and one team wellness day each year Investment in your development (2.5% of salary costs ring fenced for training) Full job spec and criteria available on request.
