We are currently delivering the redevelopment project at a Royal Navy site located in Plymouth and we are seeking an experienced Procurement Manager. The Procurement Manager is responsible for overseeing the acquisition of goods and services required by the organization. This role involves developing procurement strategies, managing supplier relationships, negotiating contracts, and ensuring timely and cost-effective purchasing to support operational needs.Due to the sensitive nature of the site, BPSS security clearance is required. Please note that this processcan take up to 8 weeks. Only candidates holding EU, NATO, 5 Eyes, or MISWG member passports and have been a UK resident for the last 5 years can be considered for this role.Your teamLocation: Devonport Dockyard, PlymouthContract: Permanent, 42.5 hoursMaking PossibleIn this role, you will be working in a live MOD facility. Your day-to-day tasks will include:Develop and implement procurement policies, procedures, and strategiesIdentify, evaluate, and select suppliers based on quality, cost, delivery, and reliabilityNegotiate contracts, terms, and pricing with suppliers and vendorsManage the end-to-end procurement process including purchase requisitions, purchase orders, and delivery trackingMonitor supplier performance and resolve any supply issues or disputesCollaborate with internal departments to forecast demand and plan procurement activitiesMaintain accurate procurement records and prepare regular reports on procurement status, savings, and supplier performanceEnsure compliance with company policies, legal regulations, and ethical standardsLead and develop the procurement teamIdentify opportunities for cost reduction and process improvementFrom time to time, you may be required by the Company to perform other tasks, which are not included in the above description, but are within your capabilities and, where necessary, training, and full support will be givenWhat do you bring to the role?Essential:Professionally qualified operator with at least 5 years post professional qualification relevant experience or 8 years experienceAcademic Qualifications - Commercial related Qualification (HNC, BSc, MSc, BEng, MEng)Experience of similar role, preferred in relevant sector (ie Nuclear and Defence)CSCS - White PQP/AQPProven experience (typically 5+ years) in procurement or supply chain managementStrong negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skillsKnowledge of procurement software and ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle)Excellent analytical, organizational, and decision-making abilitiesUnderstanding of contract law and vendor managementAbility to manage multiple projects and priorities under tight deadlinesDesirable:Leadership and team management experience is a plusProfessional certification (e.g., CIPS, CPPM) is advantageousWhats in it for you?Competitive salaryA wide range of family-friendly policiesCompany car/car allowance/travel allowance8 % matched pension contributionsPrivate healthcareLife assurance26 days holiday2 wellbeing days1 volunteering dayPersonal and professional developmentJBRP1_UKTJ
