Procurement Consultant – Public Sector | Transformation & Implementation
£45,000 – £55,000 | Birmingham (Hybrid Working)
This is not a traditional procurement role and that’s exactly the point.
If you have built a solid foundation in public sector procurement but feel stuck running the same tenders, managing the same cycles and operating within rigid frameworks, this role offers a genuine shift. It’s an opportunity to step into a more consultative, strategic position, where your expertise is used to shape how organisations procure not just deliver the process.
Joining a fast-growing, technology-led business, you will work at the centre of procurement transformation projects, supporting major public sector organisations, including local authorities, to modernise and evolve their commercial approach. The organisation itself is scaling rapidly, with an impressive client base across both the public and private sectors, and a clear focus on innovation within procurement and finance.
In this role, you will partner directly with clients, guiding them through the implementation of new procurement solutions and approaches. You will take ownership of the procurement workstream across projects, helping organisations translate new commercial models into practical application whether that’s adapting tender documentation, refining evaluation methodologies, or ensuring compliance aligns with evolving strategies. This is about embedding change in real environments, not designing theory.
You will be working closely with procurement teams, finance functions and senior stakeholders, acting as a trusted advisor throughout the process. Your ability to communicate clearly, influence effectively and bring structure to complexity will be just as important as your technical procurement knowledge. You won’t be running end-to-end sourcing events instead, you will be enabling organisations to do it better.
The ideal candidate will come from a public sector procurement background, with a strong understanding of UK procurement regulations, frameworks and tendering processes. Experience within local government is particularly valuable. Just as important is the mindset someone commercially aware, naturally curious and motivated by improvement, who can step back from process and think about how procurement should evolve.
