About the Role

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Printer (Gravure) to join a small, high‑performing manufacturing team at our Cramlington site, supporting the production of healthcare and pharmaceutical packaging.

This is a hands‑on operational role suited to a skilled printer who can set up, operate, and maintain gravure presses independently, with a strong focus on safety, quality, and consistency. The successful candidate will be someone who requires minimal training and can quickly integrate into a well‑established operation with low machine downtime.

Shift Pattern

Monday to Friday rotating shifts:
6:00am - 2:00pm
2:00pm - 10:00pm
Early finish on Friday
1‑hour early finish on Thursday

Key Responsibilities

Set up, operate, and maintain gravure printing presses (2, 3, and 6‑colour machines)
Install engraved cylinders and configure ink flow and web tension
Interpret job specifications and production schedules accurately
Monitor print quality, ensuring colour consistency and defect prevention
Carry out fault‑finding and resolve technical issues to minimise downtime and waste
Complete production and quality documentation accurately
Follow strict health, safety, hygiene, and quality standards
Support continuous improvement initiatives across safety, quality, and efficiency
Work closely with Production, QA, and Engineering teams
Guide and support assistants when required

Health, Safety & Quality

Due to the nature of healthcare and pharmaceutical products, this role operates within a highly controlled environment. You will be expected to:

Actively follow and promote OHSE standards
Participate in safety training and risk assessments
Maintain excellent housekeeping and hygiene standards (6S)
Operate strictly in line with SOPs and quality systems
Support internal and external audits

Essential Skills & Experience

Proven experience operating gravure printing presses
Minimum 3‑colour press experience (multi‑colour experience preferred)
Strong understanding of gravure printing processes, ink systems, and cylinder preparation
High attention to detail with strong colour‑matching ability
Confident fault‑finding and problem‑solving skills
Experience working in a quality‑driven manufacturing environment
Ability to work independently and under pressure
Strong communication and teamwork skills

Qualifications

Level 3 Apprenticeship in Machine Printing (preferred), or
