Job Title: Principal/Associate Town Planner \n\nLocation: Leeds, Sheffield, Manchester\n Salary: Competitive + excellent benefits\n\nOverview\n\nPenguin Recruitment is delighted to be supporting a leading multi-disciplinary consultancy in their search for a Principal / Associate Spatial Planner to join their growing and highly regarded Planning team.\n\nThis is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in shaping major infrastructure and regeneration projects across the UK, with a particular focus on supporting growth and transformation across the North of England.\n\nYou will be part of an integrated team working across planning, economics, transport, engineering, design and environmental disciplines, delivering innovative solutions for both public and private sector clients.\n\nThe Role\n\nAs a senior member of the team, you will contribute to and lead the delivery of complex planning and regeneration projects, working closely with clients and internal specialists.\n\nKey responsibilities include:\n\nLeading and supporting strategic planning and policy development, including:\nLocal plan preparation and support\nEvidence-based studies\nInfrastructure planning and delivery strategies\nAdvising on regional and policy frameworks and funding opportunities\nSupporting area-wide regeneration initiatives, including town centres and station-led developments\nProviding expertise on planning and consenting processes, including DCO, TWAO, TCPA and CPO\nWorking collaboratively with local authorities, combined authorities, and government agencies\nSupporting projects involving housing-led growth, urban extensions and strategic regeneration\nIdentifying and securing funding opportunities, including grants and investment frameworks\nManaging multi-disciplinary project teams and delivering high-quality outputs\nContributing to business development, including tender preparation and client relationship managementAbout You\n\nTo be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:\n\nA degree in Town Planning or a related discipline\nChartered membership of the RTPI\nProven experience in strategic planning, policy development and regeneration\nStrong understanding of UK planning systems and frameworks\nExperience managing multi-disciplinary projects and stakeholder engagement\nA track record in client-facing roles and business development\nExcellent communication, leadership and organisational skills\nA genuine passion for urbanism, placemaking and regional growthWhat's on Offer\n\nCompetitive salary and comprehensive benefits package\nFlexible and hybrid working arrangements\nStructured career progression opportunities\nAccess to industry-leading training and professional development\nThe opportunity to work on high-profile, nationally significant projects\nA collaborative and inclusive working environmentAdditional Information\n\nThis role may be subject to UK Security Clearance, depending on project requirements.
