Principal Transport Planner\n Location: Birmingham (Hybrid Working Available)\n Salary: Competitive + Benefits\n\nA Transport Planning specialist is now looking for a Principal Transport Planner to join their team in Birmingham. You'd be taking on a project leadership role, delivering a range of schemes including residential, commercial and education sector schemes.\n\nThe Opportunity\n This role offers a blend of technical leadership, client management, and team development. You will be trusted to lead complex transport assessments, travel plans, expert witness and others, provide strategic advice to clients, and contribute to the continued growth of the business in the Midlands and further a field.\n\nKey Responsibilities\n\nLead and deliver complex transport planning projects across development planning and highways\nTake ownership of key client relationships and act as a trusted technical advisor\nManage project delivery, including programme, budget, and quality control\nProvide senior technical input and review of Transport Assessments, Transport Statements, and Travel Plans\nOversee junction modelling and transport analysis work\nSupport negotiations with local authorities and statutory consultees\nContribute to bids, proposals, and work-winning activity\nLine manage, mentor, and develop junior transport planning staffCandidate Requirements\n Essential:\n\nDegree in Transport Planning, Civil Engineering, Geography, or a related discipline\nExtensive experience within a UK transport planning consultancy\nStrong background in development-led transport planning\nProven experience leading projects and managing clients\nExcellent understanding of UK planning policy and highways standards\nStrong written and verbal communication skills\nCommercial awareness and experience managing fees and programmesDesirable:\n\nChartered or near-Chartered status (CIHT, or equivalent)\nExperience supporting business development and office growth\nPeople management or mentoring experience\nExperience with transport modelling software (e.g.
