Job Purpose

  • Lead security risk assessments, develop security strategies and provide expert advice on safety and security solutions for clients across various industries.
  • Play a key role in project management, business development, and mentoring junior consultants, ensuring the delivery of high‑quality security consultancy services.

Qualifications / Experience

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Security, Safety, Engineering or a related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in risk consulting, security management, or safety compliance.
  • Preferred: Professional certifications in safety & security management.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with bid preparation as appropriate.
  • Lead and manage selected / allocated client relationships.
  • Develop knowledge to become competent in preparing comparative risk assessment models (CRAM) using SGW’s subscribed Hawksight SRM software tools.
  • Interpret, apply, and develop mitigation measures from threat and risk assessments and/or Strategic Security Masterplans.
  • Provide security design and engineering services to lead SGW’s project delivery on allocated projects, spanning all RIBA work stages, within the built environment.
  • Develop a client’s brief and work within a defined scope of deliverables.
  • Define Level 1 operational requirements (ORs) and how these are to be addressed.
  • Interpret Level 1 operational requirements and adjust with electronic security measures to a Level 2 OR.
  • Prepare feasibility report deliverables for deploying CCTV and security systems to address L1 requirements.
  • Undertake site surveys, prepare financial budgets, assess deliverability within project time constraints.
  • Prepare outline details of each system – CCTV, IDS, PIDS, AACS, lighting, AMS or other control room systems.
  • Prepare detailed design and tender packages associated with CCTV and electronic security systems projects, including drawings, schematics, specifications, layouts, connectivity and links to other building systems, programme, bill of quantities and pricing schedules.
  • Prepare security project related pre‑qualification questionnaires (PQQs) as required.
  • Undertake technical adjudication of contractor’s tenders and bids, preparing tender evaluation reports incorporating technical and financial scoring criteria.
  • Provide onsite technical assessment, snagging and authorise engineer services to support company projects.
  • Prepare security related white papers, conference abstracts and security research material.
  • Contribute to the development of the company CAD library and develop security related CAD and BIM methodology, material and intellectual property.
  • Contribute to development of the company workflow management systems and quality management system for areas within your remit.
  • Be eager and willing to learn new software, technologies and products.
  • Participate in continued professional development (CPD) activities, adopting the Security Institute’s CPD scheme.
  • Progress membership of the Register of Security Engineers and Specialists (RSES).
  • Build relationships with manufacturers and, if necessary, hold meetings with manufacturers and integrators to assist you in preparing a final scheme design or tender package.
  • Develop strong technical written, organisational, communication and presentation skills.
