Principal Safety Case Consultant

Westlakes Recruit are currently recruiting for a Principal Safety Case Consultant to be engaged on a permanent basis in West Cumbria or Warrington.
An opportunity for an experienced nuclear safety professional to take a leading role in safety-critical, highly regulated projects. This role combines hands-on technical leadership with strategic influence, supporting the safe operation, decommissioning, and future development of nuclear facilities.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the development, assessment, and review of nuclear safety cases.
Apply hazard identification and risk assessment methodologies to demonstrate regulatory compliance.
Provide technical leadership across a varied project portfolio, from short studies to multi-year programmes.
Act as a trusted technical authority with clients and regulators.
Lead the production and assurance of high-quality safety case documentation and technical reports.
Mentor and support the development of junior and mid-level consultants.
Contribute to project governance, proposal development, and client relationship management.
Essential Experience
Degree in a relevant engineering or scientific discipline.
Substantial experience in nuclear safety case development or assessment.
Strong understanding of nuclear regulatory frameworks and safety management principles.
Ability to communicate complex safety arguments clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.
Chartered status or working toward chartership is desirable.
