Job Description

Principal Process Engineer (Water)\n\nWorking Location: UK (Hybrid)\n\nKey Responsibilities:\n\n- Lead process design across major water and wastewater projects\n\n- Oversee process design outputs to ensure safety, quality, and compliance\n\n- Review and approve technical deliverables, reports, and specifications\n\n- Develop practical and efficient design solutions from project scope and site data\n\n- Lead and support engineers and graduates within the team\n\n- Check and approve calculations including mass balances, hydraulic profiles, and system sizing\n\n- Support development of process flow diagrams, control philosophies, and commissioning strategies\n\n- Ensure designs align with industry and regulatory standards\n\n- Manage design changes and ensure accurate documentation\n\n- Support planning and estimation of design activities\n\n- Participate in HAZOPs and technical review meetings\n\n- Provide technical input into tenders and project delivery\n\nRequirements:\n\n- Strong background in process design within the UK water sector\n\n- Experience across wastewater treatment and process design delivery\n\n- Understanding of clean water and wastewater systems\n\n- Chartered Engineer (or working towards)\n\n- Experience with HAZOP studies (chairing beneficial)\n\n- Strong technical, leadership, and problem-solving skills\n\n- Experience mentoring and developing junior engineers\n\n- Degree, HND, or equivalent experience\n\n- Full UK driving licence\n\nContract Type: Permanent \n\nWork Schedule: Hybrid (UK-based)\n\nBenefits:\n\n- Opportunity to lead technical delivery across complex water and wastewater projects\n\n- Strong pipeline of long-term AMP programme work secured\n\n- Significant leadership responsibility mentoring engineers and graduates\n\n- Involvement across the full project lifecycle\n\n- Real influence in technical direction and project delivery\n\nTake the next step towards leadership in the water sector and develop your skills within a forward-thinking engineering environment.
