You will play a key role in helping clients understand the UK electrical grid, navigate grid connection processes, and deliver technical solutions that ensure successful project integration**The Role**Your role will focus primarily on:* Lead grid connection feasibility studies, including technical and regulatory assessments.* Provide expert advice on UK grid regulations, including the Grid Code, CUSC, and Distribution Codes.* Develop and manage grid connection applications for major energy and infrastructure projects.* Liaise with Distribution Network Operators (DNOs), NESO, and other stakeholders to secure grid access.* Conduct grid impact assessments and power system studies (e.g., load flow, fault level, dynamic stability).* Support clients in negotiating connection agreements and overcoming grid constraints.* Contribute to the design and optimisation of electrical infrastructure, ensuring compliance with UK grid standards.* Mentor junior engineers and contribute to technical knowledge-sharing within the team.You may be asked to attend meetings at our office locations, or travel to clients’ offices or sites as project work requires. Alongside 25 days of annual leave, SLR offer flexible, agile and hybrid working which enables staff to tailor hours worked around core hours, and our family friendly policies help balance the needs of professional and family life.**About you*** Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.* Extensive experience in UK grid connections, power systems, or electrical infrastructure design.* Strong knowledge of transmission and distribution networks, including regulatory frameworks.* Proficiency in power system analysis tools (e.g., PowerFactory, PSCAD, PSS(R) E, ETAP).* Proven ability to engage with key stakeholders such as DNOs, NESO, Ofgem, and developers.* Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work on complex grid connection challenges.* Strong communication and leadership skills.**Desirable*** Chartered Engineer (CEng) or working towards professional registration.* Experience with battery storage, hydrogen, or large-scale renewables integration.**Culture and Inclusion at SLR** We are committed to being an equal opportunities employer, and our expectations go beyond purely complying with legislation.
