Principal Mechanical Engineer

Our client, a leading entity in the Defence & Security sector, is seeking a Principal Mechanical Engineer on a contract basis to join their esteemed team. This role is pivotal to their operations across multiple locations, including Cowes, Great Baddow, and Broad Oak.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead mechanical engineering projects, ensuring timely and effective delivery of solutions.
Develop and review detailed mechanical designs, specifications, and documentation.
Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers.
Coordinate with cross-functional teams to integrate mechanical systems within defence and security projects.
Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations, including BPSS and ITAR.
Conduct risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies.
Liaise with clients to understand project requirements and deliver accordingly.

Job Requirements:

Experience as a mechanical engineer within the defence sector.
In-depth knowledge of mechanical engineering principles and practices.
Proficiency in mechanical design tools and software.
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
Ability to work on-site for four days a week at specified locations.
Understanding of BPSS and SC in-flight processes.
Compliance with ITAR and IR35 regulations.
Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
