Our client is a well-established engineering organisation delivering complex projects within the utilities and infrastructure sector.
Principal Mechanical Engineer roles and responsibilities
* Lead the design, specification, and delivery of mechanical engineering solutions across projects and proposals.
* Manage and supervise Mechanical Engineers, ensuring high-quality output and adherence to project timelines.
* Produce and review technical documentation including specifications, calculations, drawings, and reports.
* Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, suppliers, and clients to ensure efficient project delivery.
* Oversee procurement activities including requisitions, technical evaluations, and supplier engagement.
* Drive the development and implementation of company-wide engineering standards, procedures, and quality assurance processes.
* Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and support to engineering teams, including training and development.
* Participate in site visits, testing, commissioning, and client meetings as required.
Principal Mechanical Engineer requirements
* Degree or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
* Extensive experience within the water/wastewater sector or a similar engineering environment.
* Strong technical knowledge with the ability to lead design and engineering activities.
* Experience managing teams and delivering projects within strict deadlines.
* Membership of a relevant professional body (e.g. IMechE) and/or working towards Chartered status is desirable.
* Strong IT skills including Microsoft Office and familiarity with engineering systems.
* Excellent communication, leadership, and organisational skills.
