Overview

Principal ICT Consultant (Building Services) role at WSP in the UK & Ireland. UK-wide role based in any of our UK offices within the Building Technology Services team, focusing on ICT design, project management and delivery from inception to handover.

Responsibilities

  • ICT design, project management and delivery of projects from inception through to handover to the client.
  • Design IT networks within buildings, collaborating with multiple design disciplines and implementing leading edge network designs and technologies into real-world applications.
  • Liaise with clients and stakeholders to understand and interpret requirements from concept through detailed design on multi-disciplinary projects coordinated with Architects, Engineers and specialist consultants.
  • Collaborate with specialists across WSP (MEP, Smart, AV) to develop holistic, comprehensive solutions.
  • Create future-ready buildings with ICT foundations to deliver great user experiences and drive innovation in the building landscape.

Your Team

  • Work with a Buildings Technology Services team on projects ranging from high-rise towers and data centres to stadia and healthcare digitalisation, focusing on user experience, operational efficiency and sustainability.
  • Lead as part of a specialist ICT and Smart Consulting practice within the UK Building Services Team.

What We Will Be Looking For You To Demonstrate

  • Passion for the future of technology in the built environment.
  • Experience in ICT design and delivery for medium to large building projects.
  • Ability to produce detailed design and performance specifications, and feasibility studies.
  • Experience in producing detailed equipment schedules; providing design and technical advice on projects led by seniors or as a discipline lead on smaller projects.
  • Ability to create and interpret technical documents including reports, diagrams, drawings and specifications.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision on technical aspects of the discipline, or with specific specialist experience.
  • Strong communication of complex technical information to clients and internal stakeholders.
  • Understanding of specialist building systems including MEP, BMS, fire safety, lighting and security, and smart building technologies.
  • CIBSE / IET / Engineering Council accredited honours degree or equivalent experience leading to Chartership; Revit MEP training; accredited network qualifications (e.g., Cisco, RCDD).
  • Eligibility to live and work in the UK and ability to achieve SC-level UK security clearance.

  • T & Communication Skills: IT Network Design (Passive/Active), Structured Cabling Design (Copper/Fibre), Wireless Design, Server Room Design, Data Centre Design, Telephony Design, Telecommunications Infrastructure Design
  • Electronic Skills: ELV systems, Fire alarms, Intruder detection, Access control & security systems, Disabled call systems, Data cabling and outlets
