This is a wonderful opportunity to join my client, an exciting, fast-growing Multidisciplinary Consultancy known for lending their expertise to an array of exciting projects across the planning, environmental, and engineering landscapes. They are actively seeking a talented, enthusiastic Principal Flood Risk and Drainage Consultant who is committed to enhancing Business Development (BD) by proactively seeking to win new projects within the Flood Risk and Drainage Sectors. The role will be based in the culturally-rich, portside city of Liverpool.

Responsibilities for the role of Principal Flood Risk and Drainage Consultant include:
- Proactively seeking to win new projects for the company, contributing extensively to Business Development (BD)
- Managing a team of technical experts and design professionals
- Undertaking Flood Risk Assessments (FRA) and producing Drainage Strategies, including Sustainable Drainage Systems (SuDS)
- Completing Hydrological and Flood Risk Chapters of Environmental Impact Assessments, Nutrient Neutrality, and ESG factors
- Undertaking site visits, analysing/interpreting relevant data, and producing technical documents (such as reports, etc.)
- Using the appropriate software packages (including MicroDrainage, Causeway Flow, etc.) to inform and produce designs and other technical documents
- Working with AutoCAD to design conceptual drainage systems
- Generating flood risk maps within QGIS (or similar software packages)
- Establishing and maintaining excellent working relationships with clients and other stakeholders
Required skills and experience for the role of Principal Flood Risk and Drainage Consultant include:
A UK Degree (or equivalent) in Civil Engineering, Environmental Science, or a cognate discipline Chartered Status with a relevant, recognised Professional Body Demonstrable experience of winning projects and contributing to Business Development (BD) Extensive experience of working in a flood risk and drainage role, within a UK-based consultancy setting Considerable experience of authoring Flood Risk Assessments and producing Drainage Strategies Prior experience in managing people and projects Proficient in the use of a variety of relevant software systems, including MicroDrainage, InfoDrainage, Causeway Flow, TUFLOW, etc. Good working knowledge of AutoCAD and GIS software systems Excellent understanding of the Microsoft Office Suite Outstanding communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills Experience of managing relations with clients and other stakeholders Dedication to your own Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Possess a full, valid UK Driving Licence
Desirable skills and experience for the role of Principal Flood Risk and Drainage Consultant include:
- An understanding of relevant planning policy, procedures, and regulatory processes within the industry
- Prior experience of producing technical reports for flood modelling studies
- Good knowledge of hydraulic modelling for rivers, surface water, and/or sewer drainage
