This is an excellent opportunity to join my client, an innovative, expanding Multidisciplinary Consultancy known for lending their expertise to a diverse range of projects across the planning, environmental, and engineering landscapes. They are actively seeking a capable, enthusiastic Principal Flood Risk and Drainage Consultant who is committed to enhancing Business Development (BD) by winning new and exciting projects within the Flood Risk and Drainage Sectors. The role will be based in the vibrant, diverse city of Manchester.

Responsibilities for the role of Principal Flood Risk and Drainage Consultant include:
Winning new projects for the company, proactively contributing to Business Development (BD) opportunities
Managing a team of technical professionals
Conducting Flood Risk Assessments (FRA) and designing Drainage Strategies, including Sustainable Drainage Systems (SuDS)
Completing Hydrological and Flood Risk Chapters of Environmental Impact Assessments, Nutrient Neutrality, and ESG factors
Carrying out site visits, writing comprehensive reports, and analysing/interpreting the data
Using the appropriate software packages (including MicroDrainage, Causeway Flow, etc.) to inform and produce designs and other technical documents
Working with AutoCAD to design conceptual drainage systems
Producing flood risk maps within QGIS (or similar)
Establishing and maintaining excellent working relationships with clients and other stakeholders
Required skills and experience for the role of Principal Flood Risk and Drainage Consultant include:
A UK Bachelor's Degree (or equivalent qualification) in Civil Engineering, Geography, or a similar, relevant discipline
Demonstrable experience of winning projects, contributing to Business Development (BD)
Considerable experience of working in a flood risk and drainage role, within a UK-based consultancy setting
Extensive experience of authoring Flood Risk Assessments and producing Drainage Strategies
Experience in managing people and projects
Proficient in the use of MicroDrainage, InfoDrainage, Causeway Flow, TUFLOW, and other relevant software systems
Good working knowledge of AutoCAD and GIS software systems
Excellent understanding of the Microsoft Office Suite
Outstanding communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills
Experience of managing relations with clients and other stakeholders
Dedication to your own Continuing Professional Development (CPD)
Possess a full, valid UK Driving Licence
Desirable skills and experience for the role of Principal Flood Risk and Drainage Consultant include:
- An understanding of relevant planning policy, procedures, and regulatory processes within the industry
- Prior experience of producing technical reports for flood modelling studies
- Good knowledge of hydraulic modelling for rivers, surface water, and/or sewer drainage
- Actively working to attain Chartered Status
