It offers a structured and collaborative working environment with opportunities for hands‑on experience and professional development.Purpose of the Principal Engineer – Mechanical postTo manage the delivery of mechanical engineering work packages to the required scope, quality, schedule and cost.Day‑to‑day responsibilitiesApplying systems engineering approach to develop and validate design requirementsEnsuring compliance with client specifications, technical regulations and standardsCollaboration across engineering functions and stakeholders to integrate designs within the overall facility layout and manage interfacesTechnical management of specialist sub‑contract designersMaintaining the engineering configuration of the design intent (change control)Required Knowledge, Skills, Experience and CompetencesMechanical engineering background preferably within Defence, Nuclear, Oil & Gas, or other highly regulated industryEngineering principles for the design of mechanical process systems and building services (e.g. water services, industrial gases)Regulations, legislation and standards that are applicable to mechanical system design and construction (including Principal Designer responsibilities under CDM)Experience of substantiation of process equipment for justification of Nuclear Safety Functions (desirable)Computer literate (preferably MS Office, Engineering Document Management Systems and BIM environments)Experience of the design support to construction, operation, refit/repair of conventional and nuclear submarines and/or facilities (desirable)Due to the nature of the work carried out at our client's site, these roles are subject to specific nationality requirements and are only open to sole British citizens.
