Principal Electrical Engineer – Operational Assets

We’re currently supporting a leading UK building services consultancy in the search for a Principal Electrical Engineer to join their Operational Assets team in Manchester.

This role is ideal for an engineer who enjoys working with existing buildings, refurbishment and performance‑led projects, and who values a consultative, client‑facing environment.

About the role

You’ll lead electrical design and consultancy activities across a diverse portfolio of projects focused on:

• Refurbishment and retrofit
• Building performance improvement
• Decarbonisation and net zero strategies
• Operational and existing assets

You’ll also play a key role in mentoring engineers, supporting project delivery, and working closely with clients and multidisciplinary teams.

About you

• Electrical Engineer with strong experience in building services / existing buildings
• Background in consultancy or design engineering
• Comfortable in client‑facing roles
• Experience leading or coordinating projects (small–medium scale)
• Chartered or working toward CEng is a plus
• Currently based in the UK and open to a hybrid role in Manchester
