Principal Designer - ReadingReading | Multi Dis ConsultancySalary: £55,000 Plus car allowanceCarriera is partnering with a growing consultancy to recruit an experienced Principal designer to support the expansion of their business in the Theale area. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled professional to manage multiple projects across sectors including housing, education, and commercial developments, while ensuring health and safety excellence throughout the project lifecycle.The RoleYou will be responsible for delivering Principal Designer services, working closely with clients, designers, and contractors to ensure health and safety is fully integrated into every stage of design and construction. The role offers the chance to develop expertise in key hazards typical to building and construction projects while working both independently and as part of a wider team.Key Responsibilities Advise clients on their duties under CDM RegulationsAct as the point of contact for Principal Designer duties, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements, approved codes of practice, and industry guidanceLiaise with designers to develop a Design Risk Management scheduleCollate pre-construction information and identify gapsConduct health and safety design reviews throughout the project lifecyclePromote clear communication between project duty holders regarding health and safety issuesPrepare and issue project-specific Health and Safety Files on completionSupport designers and project managers with specialist CDM advice About You Health and Safety professional with registered membership of APS or IOSHDegree or equivalent in a construction-related subject with at least 3 years post-qualification experienceThorough knowledge of CDM 2015, L144 guidance, and general industry best practiceExperience in Design Risk Management and multi-discipline construction projectsConsulting experience and strong knowledge of construction techniquesExcellent communication skills, both written and verbalEffective self-management and time management skills Key Interfaces Construction clientsArchitects, engineers, quantity surveyors, project managersContractors including site management, construction managers, and design managersHealth and Safety Executive employeesHealth and safety managers How to ApplyFor further information or a confidential discussion, please contact Alex Harcombe on 07930 904405.Equal Opportunities StatementCarriera Limited values diversity and promotes equality.
