New year, new challenge. If you are a Senior Civil Engineer ready to step up, this Principal Civil Engineer role in Birmingham offers the chance to lead, influence and shape a growing civil engineering team within an environmentally focused, multi-disciplinary consultancy.

As a Principal Civil Engineer, you will play a key role in strengthening civil engineering capability across the business, with a strong emphasis on drainage design, flood risk assessments and sustainable infrastructure. This Principal Civil Engineer position is ideal for someone who enjoys technical leadership while remaining hands-on with design and project delivery.

The Opportunity

This consultancy is expanding its civil engineering function across the UK. As a Principal Civil Engineer, you will take ownership of projects from early feasibility through planning and detailed design, working closely with environmental, planning and water teams. You will also help develop and mentor engineers, building a high-performing Principal Civil Engineer led team in Birmingham.

Key Responsibilities

Lead drainage and flood risk design across residential and commercial developments

Prepare and review Flood Risk Assessments and Drainage Strategies

Deliver adoptable and private drainage designs to UK standards

Provide technical leadership, mentoring and quality assurance

Act as a key client contact and contribute to business growth

About You

Degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline

Strong background in drainage and flood risk design

Experience within a UK consultancy environment

Chartered or working towards chartership
