Principal Civil Engineer (Chartered) – Glasgow

This is a consultancy in rapid expansion mode. What began as a small, close-knit team just five years ago has grown into a triple digit-strong operation, driven by major project wins and long-term client relationships.
Their portfolio includes some of Scotland’s most high-profile infrastructure and regeneration schemes. You’ll be collaborating closely with Tier 1 Contractors on technically challenging and high-value developments.
The opportunity
They are looking for a Chartered Civil Engineer with a broad technical background and the confidence to lead from the front. This is a senior role with genuine influence—both technically and commercially—within a growing consultancy environment.
Key responsibilities
Provide leadership and day-to-day direction to project teams, including engineers at different stages of their careers
Manage and coordinate multiple live projects, ensuring delivery to agreed quality, programme, and client expectations
Play an active role in coaching, supporting, and developing junior engineers
Take ownership of financial performance, tracking fees, costs, and programme to ensure profitable delivery
Act as a trusted point of contact for clients, strengthening relationships and reinforcing the company’s market reputation
Lead a team of approximately 11 engineers across several project streams
Technical focus
Roads and highways infrastructure
Drainage design and flood risk assessment
Projects spanning residential, commercial, and both public and private sector developments
Experience & skills
Chartered Civil Engineer status
Typically 8–10 years’ industry experience
AutoCAD and MicroDrainage expertise
Confident communicator with proven leadership and project management capability
