Job Description

Principal Civil Engineer\nLocation: Birmingham\nSalary: £62,000 - £75,000 plus benefits\n\nI am recruiting for a Principal Civil Engineer to join a respected consultancy delivering major residential, commercial and mixed-use developments across the UK. This is an excellent opportunity for a Principal Civil Engineer who wants to lead complex infrastructure design, influence project direction and help shape a growing civil engineering team.\n\nThis Principal Civil Engineer role involves taking ownership of highways, drainage and external works design across high-profile schemes. You will provide technical leadership, mentor engineers and technicians and ensure infrastructure delivery meets the highest standards.

The role suits someone who enjoys problem-solving, client interaction and setting technical direction within multidisciplinary project teams.\n\nKey Responsibilities\n* Lead and check highways design including S38 and S278 schemes\n* Oversee drainage strategies, S104 and S98 submissions and detailed surface water design\n* Develop SuDS features, foul pumping stations and balancing facilities\n* Ensure compliance with CDM Regulations and UK Building Standards\n* Coordinate with clients, local authorities, project managers and design teams\n* Mentor engineers and technicians, supporting technical development\n* Contribute to project planning, resourcing, budgeting and programme delivery\n\nAbout You\n* HNC, HND or degree qualified in Civil Engineering\n* Strong background in development infrastructure design\n* Confident using AutoCAD and MicroDrainage or InfoDrainage\n* Chartered or actively progressing toward professional accreditation\n* Strong leadership, communication and organisational skills\n\nWhy Apply\nThis Principal Civil Engineer position offers responsibility, influence and progression.
