Principal Technical Services Specialist - RAFT

An excellent career opportunity is currently available for a Technology Service Specialist within the Technical Services department of UOP's Lifecycle Solutions and Technologies (LST) business unit located in Des Plaines, US. This position plays a key role in completing the transfer of UOP's technology to ensure safe and profitable operation of UOP-licensed or UOP-designed units. The role involves regular interaction with external customers and UOP personnel. Hybrid Work Module: 3 days from Office and 2 days from home.

Key Responsibilities

  1. The specialist provides technical support for UOP technologies, mainly FCC, Alkylation, and Treating, serving external clients (licensees, EPC contractors, vendors, consultants) and internal teams (Field Services, R&D, Engineering, Business groups).
  2. The primary goal is to transfer technology to ensure units operate optimally, profitably, and safely, involving regular interaction with customers and UOP project teams. Collaboration with R&D, Sales, and Engineering departments is essential.
  3. This role offers excellent exposure and career growth opportunities within UOP, with pathways to departments like CSO, R&D, and Engineering.
  4. Participate in R&D technology improvement projects, advocating for innovations and process enhancements.
  5. Act as the focal point for support during new and revamped unit startups from pre-commissioning to acceptance.
  6. Engage in customer meetings, participate in engineering reviews (Design Basis, PFD, P&ID, MFD, Plot Plans, HAZOP, Model Reviews), and analyze operational data to provide feedback.
  7. Provide troubleshooting support both office-based and on-site, conduct audits, and prepare/update manuals and training materials. Deliver UOP technology training domestically and internationally.
