Key Stage 2 Teacher (Therapeutic Education Setting) Location: East London Contract: Term Time Only Reporting to: Deputy Headteacher The Role Our client is seeking a dedicated and resilient Key Stage 2 Teacher to join their specialist therapeutic primary provision. This is a unique opportunity to work within a nurturing educational environment that supports pupils who have been excluded from mainstream education or are currently not attending school. The role combines high-quality teaching with a strong focus on pastoral care, underpinned by therapeutic approaches to behaviour and learning. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering a creative and engaging curriculum, while creating a safe, structured, and supportive classroom environment where pupils can rebuild confidence, develop key skills, and re-engage with education. Key Responsibilities The Key Stage 2 Teacher will: * Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality lessons tailored to individual pupil needs * Deliver a broad, engaging curriculum using nurturing and therapeutic approaches * Differentiate teaching to support neurodiverse learners and those with complex needs * Monitor, assess, and track pupil progress, providing regular updates to senior leaders * Develop schemes of work and creative learning projects to promote engagement * Work closely with specialist support staff to implement individual education and behaviour plans * Support interventions to improve pupil outcomes and engagement * Promote literacy and numeracy development across all areas of learning * Use positive reinforcement and consistent behaviour strategies to support pupils * Maintain a safe, structured, and inclusive learning environment * Ensure safeguarding, risk assessments, and health and safety procedures are followed About the Pupils Pupils within this provision often have complex needs, including neurodiversity and social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) challenges. Many will have experienced disrupted education, including exclusion or prolonged absence from school. The provision focuses on rebuilding trust in education through strong relationships, consistency, and a highly personalised approach to learning. Candidate Profile The ideal candidate will be a committed and adaptable teacher with a strong interest in therapeutic education. Key requirements: * Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent * Experience teaching Key Stage 2 pupils * Experience supporting pupils with additional needs, including SEMH and/or autism (desirable) * Strong understanding of inclusive and differentiated teaching practices Key skills and attributes: * Ability to build positive, trusting relationships with pupils * A calm, consistent, and nurturing approach to behaviour management * Strong communication and teamwork skills * Resilience and adaptability in a dynamic environment * Commitment to safeguarding and pupil wellbeing The Organisation’s Approach Our client delivers education through a therapeutic model, combining strong pastoral care with structured, consistent teaching practices.
