Roles and Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the design process during pre-construction phases on projects valued between £10m–£100m.
• Coordinate internal teams, external consultants, and stakeholders to ensure design deliverables meet programme and budget requirements.
• Review and challenge design proposals to ensure buildability, cost efficiency, and compliance with regulations.
• Manage design risk, ensuring all technical aspects are addressed prior to construction.
• Support bid and tender submissions with technical input and design solutions.
• Drive value engineering and innovation throughout the design development process.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Design Manager or Pre-Construction Design Manager within a main contractor environment.
• Strong background delivering industrial, logistics, or large-scale commercial projects.
• Experience working on projects in the £10m–£100m range.
• Excellent knowledge of construction processes, building regulations, and design standards.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Relevant degree or professional qualification in construction, engineering, or architecture.
